Wild Verbena Essential Oil (Lippia javanica) commonly known in Angola as Capungo-pungo, it is probably Africa’s most under-rated fragrant medicinal plant. It is used to treat a variety of medicinal ailments, as well as pest control in grain stores.
Some of Wild Verbena potential has only recently come to light. Recent investigations have focused on the pharmacological evaluations as anti- inflammatory, antispasmodic, for respiratory diseases, anti-malarial, sweetener and repellants and on the active principles involved [3].
It is the most commonly used traditional plant herb as an antiseptic, analgesic, anticonvulsant, sedative, anti-infective, cough remedy and as a general tonic and it is also often used in inhalation therapy.
